Inventory / Delivery
Buying Direct – When buying direct, most low cost country sources require larger minimums which will tie up space and money.
Buying from PH – PH will manufacture product and stock for customer release including weekly shipments. Large quantities are not required to be taken by the customer.
Payment Terms
Buying Direct – Many foreign suppliers still require LC or payment up front. With shipment times exceeding 30 days, money can be tied up for very long periods of time.
Buying from PH – PH handles the payment terms with the foreign factories. You will be required to pay PH in agreed upon standard terms at time of receipt (Net 30, etc.).
Communication
Buying Direct – Buying direct requires frequent and direct communication with the overseas factories.
Buying from PH – PH manages all communication with the producing factory on a regular basis. You will be communicating with a US based employee of Pilgrim Harp.
Logistics
Buying Direct – Buying direct requires managing and monitoring of shipments from the producing factory.
Buying from PH – PH will manage all logistics required for product to arrive at PH. We can also manage the shipment of product from PH to your facility if required.
Quality
Buying Direct – Buying direct requires significant resources to manage the quality of the product and the output of the factory. This requires frequent visits to the factories as well as very frequent communication.
Buying from PH – PH focuses on supplying quality products to meet our customer’s requirements. We utilize our overseas offices and make frequent trips to the producing factories. Supplying high quality products is our primary goal and objective.
Project Management
Buying Direct – When buying direct, you are required to manage the project from beginning to end.
Buying from PH – PH will manage the sourcing project from beginning to end. This includes advanced quality planning, tracking of progress, etc. all the way through the production shipment.
Total Cost
Buying Direct – Buying direct has many hidden costs and requires significant resources to manage effectively.
Buying from PH – PH cost is based on purchasing from our Avon, OH facility (or one of our other warehouse locations). There are no hidden costs and we manage all aspects of the sourcing project.
